More than 100 photos were entered into the competition with 80 being shortlisted and put on display at the Dive Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

11 category winners were decided by a public vote that ran throughout the show, while the overall winner was chosen by an independent panel of judges.

This year, more than a thousand visitors completed voting slips and 4,046 valid votes were counted.

British photographer Terry Steeley’s was the overall winner of the competition with his picture, Taj Mahal Cenote and diver.

He won a week in Marsa Shagra or Marsa Nakari for one including flights, transfers, seven nights full board in a tent and five days unlimited shore diving courtesy of OonasDivers and an individual BSoUP trophy.

Judge Steve Jones said of the image: “All three judges were unanimously agreed. For me, it is a classic cave/cavern shot that portrays a scene that is both mysterious and inviting – it made me want to go there!”

Fellow British photographer Kirsty Andrews was highly commended for her photograph, Fireworks anemone, which also won her the British and Irish category.

Nick More’s photograph of a blue shark was also highly commended by the judges.

Elaine White’s landrover picture was the third of the highly commended photographs.

Judge Martin Edge said: “A fond favourite of mine from the very first moment that I walked into the gallery at 9am on Saturday morning was the print of a Land rover and diver by Elaine White taken in Chepstow N.D.C. A crafted Image indeed.

“The balance, composition and lighting were first class with the print quality adding to the overall impression.”

Judge Steve Jones said: “One of the key observations from judging this year’s print competition was the high quality of entries in the non-advanced categories – this bodes very well for up and coming talent.

“Another pleasing observation was the excellent entries in the British and Irish category – good to see our photographers producing such fine imagery in local waters.”

Nick Blake was awarded Advanced British and Irish winner for his photography, Jellyfish and sunburst.
