Searching for the perfect sailing kitbag is an ongoing pastime,
writes Sue Pelling. They are either too large with too few compartments,
or too small with too many compartments. I wonder how much time
is spent at an open meeting unzipping/zipping up compartments trying
to track down various bits of kit, including car keys? Knowing a
thing or two about the functionality of a kit bag, Helly Hansen
have designed the Helly Fusion Duffle to fulfil the dinghy sailor's
needs.
Made of 420D water resistant Nylon, the bag comprises one large
compartment with a u-shaped double zip at the top, plus a large
side pocket. A large, mesh-fronted pocket is attached at one end
and a detachable rucksack-style backpack at the other.
Hits:Loved the detachable backpack
with its secure zips and natty keyring hook. Main bag has plenty
of space for essential sailing kit, and the mesh-ventilated end
compartment is perfect for those smelly wet boots and thermal underwear.
I was also impressed with the overall quality of the bag - even
after continuous use throughout the summer sailing season, the bag
showed little sign of wear.
Misses:More interesting colours.
Value for money::If you want a bag
that withstands the harsh dinghy sailing environment, £50
is a small price to pay.
