Most of us will have been partying pretty hard over the festive season. But with it firmly behind us now and the first few weeks of January having passed by, you might be starting to get itchy feet. The month's first paycheque has hit your account and notions of being more frugal may be gone. It's boring to just do nothing in January. So have a look at our entertainment and adventure ideas to bring a little exhilaration to the start of the year.

Football Corporate Hospitality

Live sport in the form of Premier League football can often be the perfect entertainment option for the start of the year. As the most exhilarating league in the world, England's top flight really starts to hot up at this season enters a crucial stage. Corporate hospitality packages at Manchester United provide the opportunity to enjoy first class sporting action on the pitch combined with top quality hospitality and catering off it. Relaxing in the hospitality areas pre-match you can soak up the unique atmosphere of Old Trafford before heading out into the stands for the best view in the ground.

Sailing

Whether you're a beginner or you've spent plenty of time out at sea, a sailing weekend is a great way for friends to bond and bring some high speed action into your lives. You can choose from a variety of weekend courses including skills training, beginner weekends, and rigging and sail trim. For those with a little more experience why not try and adventure trip or combine a sailing weekend with a little walking or tramping?

Climbing

Most cities in the UK have facilities to learn the climbing ropes. Beginning indoors you'll be taught all the basics of harnesses and knots before you get yourself up on the wall. For those looking for a new hobby this year, this is the perfect option as you can enjoy a few hours each weekend honing your skills before embarking on a weekend trip away to really test yourself against the elements. Remember that bit about getting fit and healthy at the start of the year? Climbing provides the ideal chance to learn a new skill and improve your general fitness at the same time.

Sky diving

For the ultimate thrill, there's nothing like throwing yourself out of a plane at 5000 feet. Starting off with a tandem dive you can get to grips with both the freefall and the land back down to earth. You could also try and raise some money and do your bit for charity with a sponsored dive. Who knows it could be the best thing you ever do, pushing you on to enrol on a freefall course. A new life experience and maybe a new hobby?

Paintballing

Picture the scene... crawling through mud, gun in hand, taking aim at one of your closet friends. Sounds good doesn't it? A day out honing your battle strategy and pushing your body and senses to the limit enables you to thrust yourself into the year with renewed vigour. No more feeling glum about being back at work with nothing to look forward to. It's weekend war and it couldn't be better.
Whether enjoying entertainment in an executive lounge at the football or pushing your body in new ways, make sure you treat yourself to something different this year.
