Long range forecasts in association with Marinecall

Marinecall offers a wide range of Inshore, Offshore and European sailing forecasts from the Met Office.

Marinecall offers highly localised long range and frequently updated Met Office forecasts and contain Met Office severe weather warnings (if applicable), 48-hour sea area summary, followed by a Met Office 2-5 day deterministic forecast taken from the Met Office Atmospheric Weather model for the local sea area.  This is followed by a Met Office national forecast for days 6-10, and an outlook for the month ahead.  These Marinecall marine weather forecasts are quality controlled by Met Office forecasters to ensure the latest in local accuracy.

Call charges and update times
Based upon calls from a BT landline (calls from mobiles may vary). Marinecall by telephone (09014 calls) cost 60p per minute. Marinecall by fax (09060 calls) cost £1 per minute. Marinecall by fax (09065 calls) cost £1.50 per minute.

Six-hour coastal location forecasts are updated hourly. Five-day forecasts and all 48-hour forecasts are updated daily at 7 a.m.

Here’s what you do -

  • Simply create a TEXT MESSAGE
  • Type YBW plus the name of the LOCATION
  • Send to 83141

If you would like a forecast delivered daily before 9am, just insert the word ‘sub’ into your next SMS request, i.e. YBW SUB Southampton.

Text forecasts cost 25p, and are subject to network operator standard text charges. Marinecall is available to all mobile networks. If the data used to power SMS is subject to delay, your message will be supplied with the latest update as soon as available if within 3 hours. If not, you will not be charged for the forecast.
