Ybw.com in association with the RNLI brings you information from the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The lifeboat service in the UK receives no government funding. All of the training, equipment and education is funded by generous donations from people like you. Here you can see, read about and watch videos on how the RNLI works, how you can help them and how they can help you to stay safe at sea.
Every year the RNLI's voluntary lifeboat crews respond to 8,000 or so incidents, many of which could have been prevented with simple safety precautions.
Thirty per cent of lifeboat services to leisure craft are because of ‘machinery failure’.
