Dick Durham's blog

Web log entry dated 19 February 2008

As I was saying yesterday!

Cornwall- famous for its wreckers - was being dubbed Cocaine-on-Sea today as 1.5 tons of the drug washed up in neatly lashed bales at Bude and Kynance Cove.

The bales are covered in goose barnacles sparking theories that the drugs were dumped as far away as the Caribbean perhaps by smugglers being chased by Customs.

One yachtsman told me: 'The talk is that these bales have been drifting at sea for 18 months.'

Yesterday I mentioned that delinquent teenagers should be allowed the odd 'harvest' of flotsam, but stumbling on a life-changing lump of cocaine might be a trifle different.

After all it could have the village parson wishing he knew a good fence!
