Dick Durham's blog

Web log entry dated 20 February 2008

Prince of Darkness

Prince Philip wears well. The 86-year-old was handing out gongs for carbon emissions-beating boat designs last night at Knightsbridge's Royal Thames Yacht Club and looked a lot fitter than many of the jelly-jowelled members two decades his junior.

Circumstantially the RTY is just across the road from a famous shop whose owner, just the previous day, had dubbed the Duke of Edinburgh 'Dracula', to a jury hearing evidence in the Diana Windsor/ Dodi Fayed inquest.

However, as far as I was able to determine, the only strong light that had the Duke scuttling for the shadows, like the bloodsucker of legend, were the flashguns of over-zealous photographers.
