Ray of light
Interested to discover today that Princess Anne is a lighthouse anorak. She and hubby Tim Laurence like to visit lighthouses and look at them: their hobby is called pharology.
I feel it likely she has derived greater pleasure from this harmless pastime since the lighthouses have been unmanned.
The Queen's yachting daughter has, over the years, grown used to having blinding lights flashed at her. That there are no lighthouse keepers - or photographers - behind these great beams must be reassuring for the no-nonsense Princess Royal.
