Yachting World on the ARC

Mike KopmanSpeed machines line up for ARC ‘cruise’
Yachting World’s Features Writer Mike Kopman has been participating in this year’s ARC aboard the Volvo 60 Spirit.

This yacht is owned by Pure Sailing www.puresailing.co.uk and one aim of the team this winter was to beat the ARC record; this was successfully achieved when Spirit reached St Lucia at the head of the fleet. To read more information regarding the yacht and Mike’s view of life aboard click here.

The ARC started on November 23 from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, and it concluded 2,700 miles away in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. It is divided into cruising and racing classes, the cruising class using the World Cruising handicap while the racing boats sail under the auspices of RORC and the IRC handicap system.
