Caribbean - Full-Service Marina in Trinidad Since the 1995 hurricane season the demand for storage and moorings over the summer in Trinidad has soared and now a fourth new facility is being developed. This is CrewsInn and, like two of the other main yards, Peakes and Powerboats Mutual, it is based in the Chaguramas district in the northwest of the island. The marina is based on the site of what was a bauxite transfer station and anyone who knows the area will be pleased to see an end to the billowing clouds of red dust it produced. Crews Inn is unashamedly targetting upmarket customers with larger yachts and has 66 berths with every conceivable service to each pontoon: different power supplies, cable TV and water. Ashore, there is a 200ton travelhoist, 60ton crane and four acres of hard standing, though it is not the operating company's intention to use this for storage unless major work is being carried out on the boat. But the crowning glory is the old bauxite storage shed which offers 2.7 acres of undercover storage for maintenance and a paint shop and a vertical clearance of 70ft. This facility will allow work to continue in Trinidad's exceptionally wet rainy season. Ashore are plenty of support facilities from Customs, chandlers, a general store, rigging shop, engineers, Dynamite Yacht Management Service, a bar and a restaurant. The Mariner's Office offers computers and email services for customers. Additional facilities include a resident doctor, pharmacy, travel agent, bookshop, clothes store and doughnut shop.
