Volunteers battle strong winds and choppy seas to stop yacht drifting further out to sea

Lifeboat volunteers from Barmouth RNLI managed to secure a 22ft yacht that had broken free from its moorings in the morning on Monday 2nd May.

The yacht was drifting out to sea, where it could have caused a danger to shipping, but was reach just ten minutes after the crew set out.

There was no one aboard the yacht, but the RNLI crew battled for half an hour in the high wind and choppy seas trying to secure it.

When a towline between the yacht and lifeboat was established, the yacht was safely towed to Barmouth harbour almost an hour and a half after RNLI lifeboat the Moira Barrie first set out.
