In the old days life was simple, you relied on a paper chart, some basic instruments and a lot of know how and skill. Then along came GPS, dedicated chart plotters and digital charts that make navigation easier.
Now laptops, Smartphones and application software appears to take away the need for bespoke navigation products. Is this really the case? Is the technology ready and can anyone install it on their boat without IT skills?
