A catamaran was rescued by the RNLI after it ran aground on a sandbank off Saltfleet Haven.

Maplethorpe RNLI launched a lifeboat to tow the catamaran
off the sandbank, but the falling tide prevented the rescue.

Instead, the RNLI crew anchored the vessel and took the single crew
member to shore. They needed to wait until the next high tide nearly 12 hours later to return the crew member to the shore.

As the tide was rising, the Altantic 75 and D-class inshore
lifeboats were relaunched. They took the skipper back to his catamaran, where
he was joined by an RNLI volunteer.

The two lifeboats managed to pull the catamaran clear of the
sandbank. She was then towed by the D-class lifeboat into Saltfleet Haven, moored up and handed over to
Donna Nook Coastguard.
