A true festival of sailing, Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week 2011 is the biggest event on the calendar, offering a heady mix of thrilling racing and fun-filled socialising. Cowes Week has been a fixture of the British sailing calendar since 1826 and now sees 1,000 boats and 8,500 competitors battle it out in 40 races every day.
But it’s not just the on-the-water action that makes Cowes Week special – the parties, live entertainment and 100,000 spectators make it one of the biggest social events of the year as well.
Olympic hopefuls in high-tech carbon fibre superboats will be rubbing shoulders with leisure sailors in historic yachts while Sunsail’s new matched fleet of Sunsail F40 yachts – the largest one-design fleet in the world – gives you the chance to get involved in the racing.
