You Tuber Jason Asselin has posted footage which he claims could be a ghost ship sailing on Lake Superior in North America. Make up you own mind and watch the video!

Videographer Jason Asselin believes he has shot footage of a ghost ship sailing on Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes of North America.

Posting on the social media channel, You Tube, Asselin wrote: “Saturday evening far off coast from Marquette, Michigan appeared this mysterious ship that had to be gigantic! Almost as if a ghost ship was showing itself to the world. Even if it was a ship, what could be that tall in these choppy waves?”

He was filming a sunset for a music video when he spotted the alleged apparition.

Since posting the video it has gone viral, with more than 400,000 views.

One explanation is that Asselin filmed a Fata Morgana, an unusual and complex form of superior mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon.

These mirages significantly distort the object or objects on which they are based and can involve almost any kind of distant object, including boats, islands and the coastline.

Other suggestion have ranged for a UFO – Unidentified Floating Object – to Jesus walking on the water!

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum estimates that approximately 6,000 ships have been wrecked in the Great Lakes, with the loss of 30,000 lives.
