A BBC presenter and an Arctic expert narrowly missed being crushed when a glacier collapsed just feet from their boat

Confronting
treacherous Arctic conditions are all part of a day’s work for
television presenter Steve Leonard and Arctic
expert Jason Roberts, but the pair had a lucky escape when a large
section of a nearby glacier collapsed just feet away from their boat.

The crew were filming for a new BBC
documentary ‘Incredible Journeys’ in a small speedboat directly under a 40-metre glacier when the engine cut out after becoming clogged with ice.

In the footage, the crew are seen shouting as they speed away seconds before the entire face of the glacier collapses
into the sea, causing huge rolling waves.

No one on board was injured in the incident, although Mr Leonard told the camera: “That was a bit too close for comfort.”
