Three anglers became stranded after their boat ran out of power

Three anglers got into trouble around a mile offshore in Pevensey Bay after their boat ran out of power. They were unable to start their engine or use their radio to call for help, but fortunately they were withn range of mobile phone signal.

They called HM Coastguard for help, and Dover Coastguard requested the help of Eastbourne RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat.

Volunteer crewman Dave Needham retrieved the anchor and rigged a towline so the vessel could be returned to the locks at Sovereign Harbour.
