The company will donate two unique trophies to mark the 80th anniversary

Competitors in the 2011 J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race will have two extra special trophies to race for this year, thanks to leading marine electronics manufacturer, Raymarine. The company will donate two unique trophies to mark the 80th anniversary of the race.

Over 1,800 yachts and 16,000 sailors will take part in what has become Britain’s largest participation yacht racing event. Whilst the prizes and prestige for line honours and corrected-time winners of each class are many, it’s not only the front runners who will scoop the prizes. Competition is fierce throughout the fleet, and every place counts.

In this 80th anniversary year, the 80th placed boat in both the IRC and ISCRS, determined on corrected time, will each be awarded a stunning trophy, plus a host of goodies from Raymarine.

In addition, Raymarine will once again be supporting young sailors who take part in the race by awarding the annual Raymarine Round the Island Young Sailor Trophy. Entrants in the ISCRS class which sail with at least 50% of their crew aged under 18 years of age are eligible for this prize. Around 800 boats compete under the ISCRS rating, which is allocated by the race organisers, the Island Sailing Club.

All results from the race are published instantly online, and are displayed on screens at the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Regatta Village in Cowes Yacht Haven, and at the Island Sailing Club. Prizes will be presented at the regatta prize giving at 12.00 on Sunday 26th June, held at the Island Sailing Club.
