Five rescued near Pendine Sands on sinking fishing boat

The Temby RNLI team rescued five people from their sinking fishing boat after the vessel ran into problems six miles south of the Pendine Sands.

A flare was fired from the three week old fishing boat chartered from Swansea Marina to help the RNLI crew to find the vessel. The skipper and four passengers were forced to stand on the tip of the boat’s bow as the rest of her sank beneath them.

At approximately one am the lifeboat and casualties arrived at the boathouse where they were given hot drinks before being taken back to Swansea.

Bob James, Tenby Lifeboat Press Officer said: ‘The quick turn out of the voluntary crew members last night undoubtedly saved their lives.’
