Icom are proud to be named the”Official Radio Communications Suppliers” to the Royal Temple Yacht Club (RTYC) and their annual regatta; Ramsgate Week 2009. The regatta has been a feature of the town’s calendar for over 110 years and attracts approximately 100 boats from Great Britain and the continent.

Icom UK will be supplying the regatta with IC-M31 Marine Handheld VHF Transceivers, which will be used by the safety fleet and on shore organisers in the management of Ramsgate Week. Organised by the Royal Temple Yacht Club, it is the third largest international regatta in the UK, featuring about 100 boats from Great Britain and overseas.

The IC-M31s will be the primary means of communication for the race management team, race control and safety fleet. The Icom handhelds will be used to oversee events both on and off the water, and will also be used to respond quickly and efficiently to any emergencies that may arise.

The 2009 racing programme has been amended to provide a gap between the end of Cowes Week and the start of Ramsgate Week. The event will benefit from expert international Racing Officers, a results office and jury room set up by the marina, and a waterside marquee with après sail drinks and entertainment every evening. There is also of host of trophies to be awarded including the coveted Gold Cup and the QEII cup, the only yachting cup ever to be presented by the Queen.
