Royal Swedish Yacht Club secure place in the America's Cup

A new yacht club is due to go up against Oracle Racing of San Francisco for the America’s Cup after the previous challenger was forced to pull out.

Club Nautico di Roma’s corporate sailing team Mascalzone Latino had to forfeit its place in the 2013 competition – one of the biggest sailing events in the sport’s calendar – after failing to raise the funds needed to stay in the competitive.

The Royal Swedish Yacht Club, known as KSSS, has automatically become the Challenger of Record, after qualifying as the second challenger behind Club Nautico di Roma.

Representing the club in the competition will be the Artemis Racing team, headed by American Paul Cayard.

The two teams will battle it out for the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco Bay in two years time.
