The weekend comprised of 3 races and on the first the team came in a commendable 9th place with an average speed of 2 knots behind the winners.

They improved in the second race as the water conditions worsened and finished 6th with an improved average speed over the same course.

On the Sunday the sea was very rough and the Team came in 3rd with even better average speed. In the last few laps the team faced extreme difficulty in keeping the boat in the water, on many occasions Martin was struggling to keep the boat from flipping! The last lap was very close with Team New Zealand (guests at the race weekend) side by side with Team Fox in the race toward the line.

Martin commented, “The weather conditions suited us and we were able to push in the rough seas and pass most of the opposition. The boat, Gideon and I suffered a few bumps and bruises although the excitement of finishing third and being soaked by the Champagne made us soon forget them! All the other competitors were very pleased to see us making the podium and we were very lucky to be congratulated by one and all. The third trophy will go very well with the Place du Concourse we won at Plymouth.”
