UPDATE  June 11  10:34

The body of a sailor who went missing on Sunday has been identified as Bernadine Ingram from Butley, near Woodbridge.

The 57-year-old went missing after her yacht collided with a dredger on Sunday afternoon.

A dive team from Norfolk Fire Service discovered her body at 5pm on Monday while searching the location where the yacht sank.

The woman’s body was taken ashore shortly after and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

Suffolk Constabulary said in a statement: “Although the body has not yet been formally identified,
it is believed the body is that of the woman who had been on board the yacht.

“As is usual practice the woman’s death is being treated as unexplained and the Coroner has been
informed.”

The female sailor went missing on Sunday afternoon after her yacht collided with a dredger off the coast of Felixstowe.

A man and a dog, who had also been onboard the vessel, were rescued from the water shortly after the incident but another dog still remains unaccounted for.

Suffolk Police and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch will now carry out a joint investigation into the collision.
