Skegness RNLI in nine-hour rescue
Motorboat began taking on water just after midnight
Skegness RNLI completed a mammoth nine-hour rescue on Sunday when they successfully returned a motorboat to shore.
Motorboat MV Sarah began taking on water 17 miles north-east of Skegness just after midnight on Sunday. The three people on board raised the alarm and the lifeboat was launched.
Once the RNLI lifeboat reached the vessel, crew were transferred on board with a salvage pump and she was began her 30 mile journey back towards Fosdyke.
The steering on Sarah failed shortly into the journey, and she had to be towed by the lifeboat.
It took over seven hours to tow her back to Fosdyke Marina. The lifeboat returned almost nine hours after launching.
