Stricken ferry is cut up on the beach

Work to clear the stricken ferry, Riverdance, from the beach near Blackpool, continues daily in 3 hour stints each low tide.

Pictures sent in by our Blackpool correspondent show (top) the extra ballast tanks being removed in mid-March, when the decision was finally taken to scrap the vessel, and (below) the scene yesterday taken from outside the 400m exclusion zone, with the 6 x 6 dumper taking the scrap off the beach, where it is transferred to road lorries.
