On-line-marine, the Internet chandler, ceased trading on 15 November 2001 - the site and its assets have been bought by MarineOnline

On-line-marine, the Internet chandler – ceased trading on 15 November 2001 having been caught in the meltdown of the two biggest UK wholesale chandlers. The site and its assets were bought by MarineOnline – another Internet chandler formed in January 1999 by the Genus Property Services Group plc. The Genus Group reported an annual turnover of ’20 million and runs a range of leisure and travel sites.

Mark Heathcote of MarineOnline offers helpdesk hope to those who have not received goods from On-line-marine: “We are aware that there are disappointed On-line-marine customers with unfulfilled orders. Whenever a problem is brought to light, we are endeavouring to contact customers individually but the helpdesk is there for anyone we might not know about. MarineOnline has built a successful business – and itsreputation – on being able to fulfil orders quickly and efficiently. We want to ensure that this same high level of service is extended to customers of On-line-marine.”

Both sites are now part of the Genus Group and no decision has been taken yet as to whether each will trade individually or whether the two should merge.
