The Motor Boats Monthly Cruising Club fleet enjoyed the last relaxing day of the cruise in the attractive and well-furnished town of Goes (pictured).

Our moorings right in the centre of the town have put crews right next door to the main shopping area and a funfair is also in full swing. In Britain it would be located on a field some way away from the centre of things but the Dutch way seems to be to shoehorn in the attractions into any available gap right on the main streets and square. As a result, there’s a real feeling of party about the place.

That’s true too for us, because the wind has been dropping as an area of high pressure edges in and we have at least one good day (Saturday 11 August) on which to make a move. The fastest and largest craft are likely to punch straight back to their home ports, or at least head for the UK. The others are making an overnight stop at Nieuwpoort before making a very early start again on Sunday morning.

More news soon.
