Cardiff Harbour Authority has proposed harbour dues in excess of the national average

A recent proposal by Cardiff Harbour Authority to increase harbour dues to a level in excess of the national average has raised an outcry amongst local commercial sailors and leisure boat users alike. In response to the concerns raised over the Harbour Authorities intentions, a meeting of the Cardiff Bay Harbour Users Forum was held this week, in order to discuss the proposals.

The BMIF Assistant Director, Fergal Quinn, attended the meeting as representative of the industry, ‘Clearly the industry is concerned at the level of dues being proposed, however, we are prepared to work with the Harbour Authority and those affected by the dues with a view to finding a mutually acceptable way forward.’

It is likely that discussions between the Harbour Authority and the Cardiff Bay Harbour Users Forum will ensue, the outcome of which will be known in due course.
