Sheppey and Medway Coastguard rescued a 74-year-old sailor who became stuck in mud up to his shoulders at Queenborough, Isle of Sheppey in Kent on Saturday
Armed with mud rescue equipment, Sheppey and Medway rescue teams assisted Kent Fire & Rescue services to rescue the man.
The Martime & Coastgaurd Agency said in a statement: “The male was recovered to his vessel by the Fire Service Mud Team before being transferred into the care of the Ambulance service by the lifeboat, suffering from the cold but otherwise uninjured.”
The man needed to be pulled from mud after trying to set his anchor after running aground earlier in the day. His wife contacted the Coastguard via VHF Channel 16 just before 10pm.
