Team Sanya, China’s entry for the Volvo Ocean Race, has acquired the racing boat originally intended for use by the Spanish team in this year’s event.

Team Sanya purchased the 2008-09 Telefonica Blue, which has already been extensively modified by the Argentinian designer Juan Kouyoumdjian, and are planning to move her to the Hamble for further refitting work to be carried out.

Instead, the Spanish team, headed by Pedro Campos, are reportedly racing in the Bruce Farr-designed Telefonica Black.
