Owners warned to check boats for damage

More than half a dozen boats have been damaged by vandals at Poole.

The attack was first noticed by Karl Sypniewski, who was about to do some work on the engine of his motor cruiser. “I found the doors smashed open, but nothing was stolen,” he said. “I then went from boat to boat and each one was open.”

Poole Harbour Control is urging owners to check boats moored in the harbour at least every couple of weeks.

“When the door is smashed and it starts raining, water will go into the living quarters,” Sypniewski added. “After a few days of wet weather, I’m worried that a boat could go down.”
