With the news that Team Origin have just announced their team for the 1851 Cup at this year’s Cowes Week, we’re excited to say we’ll be hosting live coverage of the event here on YBW.com.

The 1851 Cup will be a race between the British America’s Cup Team Origin and America’s Cup holders BMW Oracle Racing.

The clockwise race around the Isle of Wight will take place over the original course that saw the birth of the Cup in 1851.

That year four British yachts raced the US Yacht America, the American boat taking victory. This was the birth of the famous comptetion and America‘s owners were given a silver ewer which remains the race’s iconic symbol.

Our 1851 Cup coverage will come live from Team Origin, while David Glenn, Editor of Yachting World, will be the 18th man on BMW Oracle and bringing you Cowes Week News from the event.
