Tourists sailing to Russia on board yachts could be allowed to stay in the eastern European country for up to three days without a visa

Sailors headed for
Russia could soon be permitted to stay in the country visa-free for up to three
days.

The idea is all part
of a new bill currently being considered by the Russian government.

The bill would let
foreign tourists who arrive in Russia on sports and recreational sailing
vessels, enter the country without a visa for up to 72 hours.

At present, the
majority of tourists need a visa and official invitation from an authorised
body in order to visit Russian ports by boat.

Russia’s Transport
Ministry came up with the idea in a bid to increase the number of yacht
tourists visiting the country.
