A luxury motor yacht – complete with a helipad, swimming pool and six staterooms – mysteriously arrived at a shipyard in Birkenhead this past weekend.

The German-built Lürssen superyacht, Solandge, berthed at Cammell Laird Shipyard on Sunday 17 November and currently sits in dry dock.

It is believed that the 280ft long charter yacht was en route to the Caribbean from Bremen, Germany when she damaged a propeller shaft and was forced to stop to complete repair work.

The 62nd largest yacht in the world left Douglas, Isle of Man, at midnight on Saturday. The AIS (Automatic Identification System) was then switched off shortly after in the very early hours of Sunday morning before she curiously appeared at the Mersey Bar at 7.30am.

Superyacht World editor Paul Ashton, said: “There is very little information available regarding the Solandge, however it is known that the interiors were designed by the Rodriguez Group – a firm based in Miami – and this tends to indicate a North American owner.”

It is yet unknown who chartered the mega-yacht and the shipyard declined to comment on her visit.
