Sunseeker 86 launched at London Boat Show

The first Sunseeker 86, which is being launched in grand style at the Collins Stewart London Boat Show at Excel, has been fully equipped with Raymarine’s G Series premier navigation, information and command system.

The owner of the Sunseeker 86 chose to fit Raymarine products, having experienced the benefits of Raymarine’s integrated systems on a previously owned Sunseeker.

Raymarine’s new G Series is an impressive high performance networked system featuring the GPM400 processor module. This built-in high capacity hard drive offers ten times the processing speed of conventional marine electronics, and provides superb PC-like performance.

The Sunseeker 86 is fitted with two G150 high visibility, sunlight viewable, low profile LCD displays at the main helm, and two G120 screen at the flybridge helm. Both helm areas are equipped with two ST70 instruments. This brand new colour instrument head is the latest technology development from Raymarine and can be fully customised to display all data on a single instrument. An additional ST70 has been fitted into the crew quarters.

The G Series multi function displays are operated via screen control, as well as through a fixed or wireless keyboard. This operates all the integrated Raymarine systems on board – including the ST7002 autopilot and the chartplotter, which features worldwide cartography from Navionics. This highly detailed mapping shows navigation charts, 3D topography, aerial photographic views of ports, port data, animated tides and currents. Charts for entire geographic regions are loaded on the G Series internal hard drive.

The latest breakthrough in radar technology, Raymarine’s HD digital radar, is also available through the G Series and using the new HD digital open array. This automatically processes 16,000 levels of data digitally, providing leisure boaters with the type of radar images and detailed accuracy only previously available on commercial vessels. Combined with the screen technology available in the G Series displays, this offers options to use 256 colours on graded target returns.

The Sunseeker 86 is equipped with Raymarine’s RAY240 VHF, with automatic Digital Selective Calling, and the AIS250, which easily integrates with an existing VHF antenna using the built in VHF splitter, allows AIS targets to be graphically overlaid in both the chartplotter and radar modes on Raymarine multifunction displays.

As well as providing easy to use and highly visible essential navigational data, the G Series is used to view data from on board cameras, and offers a full entertainment system. Each screen can be easily personalised, enabling users to select the data they wish to see at the touch of a button.
