St Helier RNLI assisted the disabled boat

St Helier RNLI was called to a chartered fishing that got caught in fishing nets several miles southwest of La Corbiere lighthouse in Jersey yesterday.

The boat was returning from a pleasure fishing trip with eight people on board when her propellers became tangled in the fishing nets. The nets had been drifting in the sea unmarked. No one knows where the nets came from.

“This really was a case of bad luck for the fishing boat,” said St Helier lifeboat operations manager Bill Harris. “There was nothing the skipper could have done to forsee this happening.”

The fishing boat was towed back to St Helier harbour.
