RNLI crew member Robin Goodlad won a national competition to create a new soup recipe, which will go on sale and raise at least £6,000 for the RNLI.
The competition, run by New Covent Garden, challenged budding chefs to create their own soup flavour. Each month people are asked to submit their recipes based on pre-selected themes with the winning recipe decided by an online vote.
Robin’s unique recipe was voted the best in the ‘recovery’ theme, which invited food lovers to create a soup that would get consumers back on their feet after a tiring task.
New Covent Garden Soups has pledged to raise at least £6,000 for the RNLI from sales of Robin’s Chipotle Chilli Bean & Chorizo Soup, which will be sold until the end of March 2012.
“Most RNLI crews are volunteers who put themselves at risk to help others in danger, and we’re proud to be able to show our support,” said Nigel Parrot, group marketing director at New Covent Garden. “We’re sure consumers will feel the same, and expect this month’s limited edition soup to sail off the shelves.”
Already the company’s Smoked Haddock Chowder soup has raised over £17,000 for the RNLI since it hit the shelves in 2010.
