A unique service for the millions of consumers around the world who use 12 volt products came online today. Developed by UK-headquartered 12Volts Limited, based in Suffolk, Just12v.com is the world’s first global database of products and services which operate from 12volt supplies.

Containing comprehensive listings from the portfolios of manufacturers and suppliers of 12 volt products, the database will benefit customers in the automotive, marine, leisure and environmental communities.

Commenting on the launch, Martin Yates, Sales & Marketing Director at 12Volts Limited explains the rationale behind the development of the new database: “Go to any electrical or hardware store, auto specialist shop, caravan dealership, ship’s chandler or hypermarket and you will find a small range of products which operate on 12 volts. Through our database, the millions of customers seeking details of 12 volt products will be able to find the ideal solution to meet their needs. We are expanding the coverage and depth of 12Volts on a daily basis and plan to have details of many thousands of products available online within the next few months’

The 12Volts database also contains details of a number of environmentally friendly products designed to operate in areas such as solar power generation, water supply and purification. These are of particular interest to third world communities where mains power supplies are non-existent or erratic or where low voltage technology is the only energy source.

12Volts Limited will be continually evolving the database to provide a better service to consumers as Martin Yates explains; ‘As a first step we plan to launch an on-line magazine, ‘Current Sources’ which will be distributed to all registered users of the database. This will enable them to keep up-to-date with new product developments and marketing initiatives in the area of 12volt technology.’

12Volts will operate on a world-wide basis, using advertising in specialist media publications to address its target audience. At launch, the database lists over 100 manufacturers with another 500 yet to be included. 12Volts Limited expects to have 5,000 distributors listing their products on the database in the very near future.

The software used for the 12Volts website is known as COMRADES (Community Of Manufacturers, Retailers And Distributors E-commerce Software) and has been specifically developed for 12Volts by Wheatley Associates who provides consultancy, software development and project management predominantly to the United Kingdom utility industry. Their client server software manages over 10 million electricity customer’s installations and 12,000 transactions daily.
