Alleged Florida thief forgets to untie boat

An attempt to steal a boat from a Florida dock has been thwarted after the alleged thief forgot to untie the vessel.
TCPalm reports that the oversight by Jimmie Shuman, 42, resulted in him being caught.
The alleged attempted theft took place outside Sailor’s Return, a waterfront restaurant in Stuart, Florida.
Shuamn, 42, is accused of trying to take the 23-foot vessel just before 10pm on 24 June.
“The victim stated he saw the defendant on his boat trying to drive it away, but the boat was still tied to the dock at Sailor’s Return,” stated an arrest affidavit.
The owner of the boat is reported to be a retired law enforcement officer.
He detained Shuman until the police arrived.
Shuman, of Southeast Hawthorne Street in Stuart, was arrested on charges including grand theft of a boat and battery on a law enforcement officer.
