Belgian skipper lost overboard in weekend storm

The body of a Belgian fisherman has been found 20 miles off the South Coast and brought into Brighton. The skipper of vessel Zilmermeeuw, fishing south of Newhaven, went missing on Sunday whilst his crew were below decks on their lunch break. Solent Coastguard were alerted and two rescue helicopters as well as Newhaven and Eastbourne RNLI lifeboats were involved in the search to find the missing skipper. Unfortunately, without a lifejacket or survival suit his chances of survival in the high winds and inclement weather were not good.
