Coppercoat has won the ‘Eco Friendly Business’ award at the Asian Marine & Boating Awards 2011

A British company manufacturing and distributing anti-foul coating has won the ‘Eco Friendly Business’ award at the Asian Marine & Boating Awards 2011.

Aquarius Marine Coatings, based in Dorset, scooped top prize thanks to their low-leaching coating which only needs to be applied once every ten to 20 years. Called Coppercoat, the hardwearing densely copper filled epoxy resin protects tens of thousands of boats across the world.

“It is very rare for any anti-foul to receive an award for being environmentally friendly, so this is a major coup for us and welcome recognition that Coppercoat is an environmentally sensible choice,” said Jayson Kenny, director of AMC.

The awards, held in conjunction with the China International Boat Show, celebrate the best in the marine industry.

Other winners include Bill Dixon for ‘Yacht Designer of the Year’, Beneteau for ‘Best Brand Penetration’, and Navonics for ‘Most Innovative Company’.
