djuice dragons will take on Swedish team, SEB in a 500-mile race from Gothenburg to Stockholm tomorrow afternoon

The Volvo 60 team, djuice dragons will take on Swedish team, SEB in a 500-mile race from Gothenburg to Stockholm tomorrow afternoon. The race will start at 1600 and take approximately two and a half days with an ETA of 10oo on Friday June 29 into Saltsjöbaden, just outside Stockholm.

Both teams are heading to the famous Swedish Round Gotland Race and saw the opportunity to race each other as a good warm up for the Volvo Ocean Race. “I am in favour of racing other teams as much as I can before the Volvo starts,” says skipper Knut Frostad. “It gives us a good yardstick to measure ourselves against because when you train on your own you never really know how good you are.”

Tactician Ed Baird is also looking forward to racing Gunnar “Gurra” Krantz’s SEB team. “All the teams are at a stage that they need outside competition, we’re no different,” he says. “Getting a little more real life racing experience will help us all.”

djuice dragons will not be racing the recently chosen race boat, djuice, but will be crewed mostly by the race team, apart from Spike Doriean and Jacques Vincent.

For the journey back from Stockholm, djuice dragons will race SEB again although Jean-Yves Bernot and Ed Baird will step off.

The Round Gotland Race will start July 1 and finish July 2 and will include other VO60s in the fleet.
