Family entertainment as well as a great selection of new power and sail boats at Port Solent Festival, 29th - 31st May

The Festival of Power & Sail, Port Solent Boat Show will be held at Port Solent Marina from 29th – 31st May. The show will open daily, 10am – 5pm with free entry and free parking. Having grown considerably for three years the event this year will provide plenty of entertainment for the family as well as a great selection of new power and sail boats.

Working closely with the managers of the Boardwalk the 2009 show will not only include sail boats for the first time, but also some off water and family activity. There will be entertainment over the weekend from the Irish Band, “Mist on the Bog”, and visitors can marvel as the sea gods patrol the waves astride their squirting dolphin chariots, filling the air with streams of bubbles and the sounds of the seas from the “Tritons”. There will also be balloon modelling – visitors can get a yacht shaped hat, or get their face painted – become a mermaid for the day, be astonished by the magician, or just sit and listen to the music being played throughout the site.

Down at the Boardwalk, as well as the usual array of shops and restaurants, OnDeck will be promoting their “Atlantic Adventure” with a chance to win a once in a lifetime trip. The Jubilee Sailing Trust will be on site providing visitors with information on how to get involved and get sailing, Northchild Swan 51 Cruises will have details of their Swan 51 charters, the RNLI will have a souvenir stall and their Sea Safety team will be on hand to tell all about staying safe at sea, Myboatshare.com will be promoting their scheme, and Smart Home Life will be displaying their luxury music and lighting solutions suitable for both ashore and afloat.

Event organisers are pleased to announce sponsorship from Lombard Marine Finance, and IPC Media titles Classic Boat, Yachting Monthly, Yachting World, Motor Boats Monthly, Motor Boat and Yachting, Practical Boat Owner and YBW.com.

Boats will be on display from several dealers including, Walton Marine, Maritimo Ltd, Inspiration Marine Group, Premier Yacht Sales and Ancasta International Boat Sales. Walton Marine will be displaying a selection of boats from the Jeanneau power range from the smaller Merry Fishers to the larger Prestige yachts. New company Maritimo will be displaying their Australian built Maritimo M48 as tested in the March issue of Motor Boats Monthly. Inspiration will be exhibiting both Hanse and Fjords.
