A police harbour boat slammed into two powerboats while attempting a simple U-turn.

The accident was caught on video on a witness’ mobile phone on the Potomac River near the Georgetown neighborhood in Washington D.C..

The collision completely submerged one of the boats and although there was effort to try and save it, the huge gash in the side caused it to sink.

In the video, you can see the police boat trying to make the turn, but gunning the engine which caused it to knock its stern into the two boats sitting docked at the harbour.

There were no passengers onboard the two boats so fortunately no injuries were sustained. The boat was towed away following the accident and the Washington D.C. Police and the US Coast Guard are investigating the crash.
