Crewsaver has issued the following safety check notice on behalf of United Moulders, who manufacture the Mark 3 Automatic Operating Head used on some gas inflated lifejackets.

It relates to any Barbour, Cosalt, Crewsaver, Douglas Gill, Fox, Leeda, Musto or Marlin Brand Automatic Lifejacket purchased before 1998, which is fitted with an operating head as illustrated.

Crewsaver reports: “It has been found that over time and in exceptional circumstance, the repeated over tightening of the CO2gas cylinder may cause wear within the operating head moulding. This can result in some gas escaping when the jacket is inflated. The remedy is simple and does not require the return of the lifejacket to the manufacturer.”

This only applies to the above brands of auto lifejacket bought before 1998. For more information contact Crewsaver on 44 (0)23 9252
