New Falmouth marina proposed at Custom House Quay
Falmouth Harbour Commissioners have submitted a planning application proposing a new marina to be built within the Custom House Quay basin in Falmouth.
Falmouth Harbour Commissioners have submitted a planning application proposing a new marina to be built within the Custom House Quay basin in Falmouth.
The proposal includes a floating marina with berths for 60 boats up to 6 metres in length and a ramped pedestrian walkway.
Also part of the plans is an outhaul facility for some 20 boats that would be situated between Custom House Quay and the Grove Place Boat Park, with access via a pedestrian ramp to a pontoon.
Barry Buist, Falmouth Haven’s general manager said: “These will be fantastic facilities meeting demand for convenient small berths. They will be ideal for family day-boats and larger tenders whilst helping the regeneration of the Custom House Quay area.”
The group sought advice from the local planning authority and from Heritage England before creating the marina proposal, and if the application is successful building work could begin this winter and facilities could open in time for the season next year.
