Ovington Marine, the yacht division of Ovington Boats is to build the new Farr52, in fact, construction of the first of many boats is now well under way. Renowned for their World and Olympic winning racing dinghies, Ovington have only in the last 5 years ventured into top flight racing yachts. The success of the Mumm 30 needs no explanation. It was this very success that secured the contract to build the 52.

The Farr 52 One Design is a high performance yacht designed by the Farr group and created for the owner who demands excellence at a sensible price. It is designed for the owner/amateur Group 1 helmsman rule developed by the rapidly growing Farr 40 One Design Class utilizing USS Prescription R. Proven design parameters insure that it will be competitive in all fleets.

The use of accurate high quality production moulds shipped from the USA for the hull, deck, keel, rudder and even the bulkheads save labour, increase repeatable accuracy between boats and eliminate the weight of fairing putty on the hull, deck and interior structure.

Ovington’s extensive use of carbon fibre with epoxy resin in a wet pre-preg process, vacuum bagged and heat cured, will ensure that the hull, deck and interior components are strong, light and very fair.
