RNLI stages dramatic rescue in rough seas and force 6 wind
The volunteer crew of RNLI Larne, County Antrim, launched a daring rescue at the weekend when a 24ft yacht with three people on board got into difficulties south of the Isle of Muck.
The request to launch came in at 3:05pm on Saturday and the all-weather lifeboat was launched immediately.
A lifeboat crew member was transferred on board the yacht and a towline set up once on the scene.
The yacht was then towed to safety in Larne.
Commenting on the callout, Larne RNLI Coxswain Robert Rice said: ‘While the yacht was suffering engine difficulties, the weather made the callout extremely challenging.
“Thankfully an experienced lifeboat crew were on scene to ensure that a tow could be safely established and the vessel brought to safety quickly and with no casualties,” he told Belfast Live.
