Round Britain voyage with young people recovering from cancer sailing on board.

The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires a highly experienced commercial skipper, a first mate and a voyage co-ordinator for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009).

In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board.

Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment.

Senior Skipper

Yachtmaster commercial endorsed (ocean), with extensive experience must be able to be part of a high profile event and have a genuine interest in working with young people. Presentation skills are also required.

First Mate

Experienced commercial endorsed Yachtmaster, able to be part of a high profile event and have a genuine interest in working with young people. Presentation skills are also required.

Voyage Co-ordinator

Knowledge of sailing and running a sailing project essential as well as Powerboat Level 2 and a clean driving license
There will be extensive travel around the UK and the job will be based away for 6 months. This post will run from Jan – end Sept 2009.
