Two new additions to sailing event
New teams for the 34th America's Cup
An extra two teams have been added to the starting lineup of one of the world’s biggest sailing events.
The number of competitors set to participate in the 34th America’s Cup has risen to 10 following the two additions, with formal, public announcements by both teams revealing their identities, nationalities and plans are expected as early as next week.
Iain Murray, regatta director for the 34th America’s Cup, said: “With the deadline for entries coming at the end of this month, it’s fantastic to have two more competitors in the line-up this week. This brings us up to 10 teams in the competition with a little over a week remaining before the deadline for entries.”
The other teams that have already been confirmed as taking part in the race include: Aleph (France), Artemis Racing (Sweden), Emirates Team New Zealand (New Zealand), Energy Team (France), Mascalzone Latino (Italy), Team Australia, one undisclosed team and the Defenders ORACLE Racing (USA).
The entry deadline is March 31, 2011.
